  • Bill of Lading

    A hauler or carrier’s contract that may also act as the receipt of goods transported and delivered to the consignee. Examples of various bills of lading include Clean/Clear, Ocean, Order, Short-Form, Straight, and Through.
  • Clean Bill of Lading

  • Export Bill of Lading

    Document issued by a carrier that covers the transportation of goods from a domestic point of origin to a foreign destination.
  • Government Bill of Lading (GBL)

    A bill of lading used by the U.S. government for shipping government-owned property or for receiving goods delivered to the government.
  • Ocean Bill of Lading

    A receipt detailing a list of marine-transported goods from the carrier to the consignee.
  • Order Bill of Lading

    A negotiable bill of lading between carrier and consignor by which legal possession of the shipment may be ordered by endorsement from person to person; this enables a shipper to collect for a shipment before it reaches its destination. Is sometimes used by shippers to consign shipments to themselves so that delivery is made only upon the shipper’s order. See also: Bill of Lading.
  • Straight Bill of Lading

    A contract document that provides for direct shipment to a consignee.
