  • Grandfather Clause

    A contract provision that allows entities or people to continue to follow an existing rule, regulation, or law rather than a newly enacted one.
  • Grant

    1. A transfer of federal government funds to state or local governments to support or stimulate programs authorized by federal or state laws in order to accomplish objectives that are locally defined and managed under a broad federal or state program. 2. The furnishing of assistance by a jurisdiction, whether financial or otherwise, to any person to support a program authorized by law; does not include an award whose primary purpose is to procure supplies, services, or construction.
  • Grantee

    An entity that receives a grant of monetary funds from a grantor. See also: Third Party.
  • Grantor

    A person or institution that provides funds to support the activities of the grantee.
  • Gratuity

    Something given voluntarily or beyond obligation, usually for some service (e.g., tip).
  • Green Purchasing

  • Green Seal

    A nonprofit environmental organization that offers expertise in green purchasing, operations, and plant improvement. This organization has helped prepare environmentally responsible criteria, including specifications for many products (e.g., paint, adhesives, degreasers, paper towels, and napkins).
  • Grey Market Good

    1. A new good that flows through distribution supply channels other than those authorized or intended by the manufacturer or producer (e.g., a good intended to be sold only in Europe that eventually finds its way for sale and use in the U.S. market). 2. A good being sold outside of normal distribution channels by companies that may have no relationship with the producer of the good. A typical good includes electronics, cameras, and watches. The original manufacturer may not honor the product warranty on a grey market good.
