Definition of Diversity

During November 1-3, 2001 the National Committees and Board of Directors of the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing (NIGP) conducted their fall meetings in Reston, Virginia. Based on recommendations submitted by the national committees, the Board of Directors adopted the official NIGP Definition of Diversity.

Diversity is a collection of individuals bringing together varied demographic, cultural, human, intellectual, and philosophical differences to help create an environment that honors and respects those differences in a safe and supportive environment.
