This document provides information about the tasks performed by a Procurement Contracting Technician. The technician is responsible for reviewing and processing requisitions for specific commodity categories, scheduling department contract bid reviews, and assisting user departments and vendors in obtaining necessary documents for contracts. They also process new sole source, bid waivers, state, and emergency contracts, exercise independent judgment in complying with procurement procedures, operate various computer systems, develop standardized award sheets, and prepare contract modifications and other related documents. The technician also assists contracting agents, trains newly hired technicians, and maintains correspondence with user departments and vendors. They confer with user departments and vendors on procurement processes and assist in attending meetings and workshops. Additionally, they assist in establishing new ideas and procedures for improving efficiency and accuracy, maintain vendor files, and perform related tasks as required. The minimum qualifications for this position include a high school diploma or GED and one year of procurement-related experience, although a bachelor's degree may substitute for the required experience.
