The major responsibilities and duties of the Purchasing/Contract Specialist include supervising and evaluating personnel, administering and maintaining the district's automated purchase order system, reviewing and approving purchase requisitions, processing requests for purchases from various contracts and cooperatives, coordinating the use of interlocal cooperative agreements, updating and disseminating information on approved vendors, conducting audits of purchase orders, performing duties related to contract development, processing and creating contract agreements and related documents, reviewing certificates of insurance and bonds, interacting with staff, contractors, and outside agencies on contractual inquiries and performance, ensuring proper maintenance and distribution of contract documents, planning staff development activities, compiling procedures manuals, collaborating with the Senior Buyer, attending School Board Meetings, ensuring compliance with laws and policies, maintaining ethical behavior and confidentiality, and performing other duties as assigned. The Purchasing/Contract Specialist will also have supervisory responsibilities, overseeing and evaluating the performance of staff in the Purchasing Services Department. The equipment used in this role includes a personal computer, printer, scanner, calculator, copier, fax machine, and typewriter. The working conditions involve maintaining emotional control under stress, working with frequent interruptions, light lifting and carrying, sitting, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, repetitive hand motions, hearing, speech, visual acuity, frequent in-district travel, occasional out of district travel, and exposure to microwaves.
