The major responsibilities and duties of the Inventory Specialist include conducting physical inventories, directing work flow in the absence of the Coordinator for Utilities and Warehouse, assisting in scheduling delivery drivers, evaluating and inspecting warehouse materials, receiving stock and non-stock items, researching discrepancies on orders and invoices, reviewing incoming/outgoing requests for materials and purchase orders, tracking payment information on purchase orders, providing data and reports to auditors, preparing reports and maintaining accurate records, working with the Accounting Department for payment processing, maintaining records of surplus materials, processing payments for district-wide mobile phones and pagers, providing customer service to various departments, maintaining ethical behavior and confidentiality, and performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor. The Inventory Specialist does not have any supervisory responsibilities. The equipment used in the role includes a personal computer, printer, calculator, typewriter, multiline phone system, copier, and fax machine. The working conditions involve maintaining emotional control under stress, working with frequent interruptions, light to moderate lifting, sitting, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, repetitive hand motions, and exposure to microwaves. The role also involves working in a warehouse without climate control, which may result in exposure to excessive heat or cold temperatures.
