Their goals include purchasing at the best cost available, enforcing district policies and regulations, processing requisitions and issuing purchase orders, resolving complaints and protests, maintaining information and communication, and providing training sessions for personnel. The goals of the School Board of Palm Beach County include increasing literacy, improving student performance, providing safe and nurturing school environments, implementing a challenging curriculum, providing continuous staff development, ensuring financial responsibility, increasing parental involvement, and preparing students for productive citizenship. The key results that the School District aims to achieve include having all students read independently on grade level by the end of second grade, successfully completing Algebra 1 prior to tenth grade, proficiency in mathematics, reading, and writing as measured by FCAT and Florida Writes, meeting or exceeding Level 4 criteria, increasing enrollment and performance in upper level mathematics and science courses, increasing participation and performance in the SAT, increasing enrollment and performance in gifted, honors, advanced placement, IB, and other advanced programs, decreasing dropout rates and increasing graduation rates, reducing suspensions and eliminating disproportionate suspension rates, and aligning efforts and resources to accomplish key results. It is also mentioned that all students enrolled in Exceptional Student Education (ESE) programs are expected to make progress towards accomplishing the key results appropriate to their instructional program.
