The document is a memorandum from Mr. Raymond A. Perkins, Jr to Mr. Robert M. Hardison, Mr. Miles Hanley, and Mr. Charles Carson. The memorandum discusses two construction standards for different equipment in South Carolina's Capital Schools. The first standard relates to through-wall mechanical units. In 1996, the District issued a request for proposal (RFP) for these units, and two manufacturers, Marvair and Bard, responded. The document states that both Automated-Logic and Siemens systems have been found to be compatible with the needs of the district based on the 2004 Energy Management Control System RFP evaluation. It is recommended that both vendors be allowed to bid on upcoming construction projects. However, the district will not allow multiple systems to control a single school. If a school already has an existing control system, the new controller must provide the cost for replacing the entire system to meet the district's needs.
