ITB - Agricultural Land Lease for Long Term Biosolids Resea

  • ENTITY TYPE: City/Township
  • TYPE OF DOCUMENT: BID - ITB, IFB, ITT, RFB
The document is a specification for an agricultural lease at the Hornsby Bend Biosolids Management Plant in Austin, Texas. The lease is for approximately 525 acres of land, which is used for the production of crops for animal consumption. The leased area is also used by the City of Austin for land application of Class B Biosolids and is irrigated with treated process water from the plant site. The lessee is responsible for providing necessary fertilizers, labor, and equipment for planting, harvesting, and marketing farm products. They are also responsible for weed and pest control, maintenance of fences and gates, and removing excess equipment or materials from the site. The lessee must coordinate crop selection, planting, and harvesting with the research team conducting a long-term study on the benefits and impacts of Biosolids on plants and soil biology. Harvesting schedules and reports must be provided to the Farm Manager, and all crops must be removed from the property within six months of harvest. The City reserves the right to inspect the contractor's operation at any time. Lease payments to the City are made at the end of the annual contract period, and the lessee may be requested to pay for soil and plant analyses to support research instead of the lease payment.
