  • YEAR CREATED: 2004
  • ENTITY TYPE: County
  • TYPE OF DOCUMENT: BID - ITB, IFB, ITT, RFB
This document provides special provisions and guidelines for milling operations in road maintenance. The restrictions mentioned aim to minimize difficulties in traffic maintenance and equipment operation during the removal of 1 to 3 inches of bituminous material. Adequate loading and sweeping equipment should be provided to remove all cuttings from the surface daily. If the entire width of pavement is not planed by the end of the work period, a maximum deviation of 2 inches is allowed between the two surfaces. Vertical cuts along a gutter line can be made at the end of a work period, but if the depth exceeds 3 inches, suitable signing and warning devices must be provided. Transverse faces at the end of a work period should be tapered to avoid hazards for traffic. The milling equipment should meet the standards for noise and air pollution control. It should be self-propelled, have sufficient power and stability, and effectively control dust. Sufficient equipment should be available to clean up millings and fine particles promptly according to environmental standards.
