RFP - Web Design Services 2000

  • YEAR CREATED: 2000
  • ENTITY TYPE: Universities
  • TYPE OF DOCUMENT: RFP - Request for Proposals
This document is a set of notes from a pre-proposal conference for a web design project for the University of Baltimore. The conference addressed various concerns and questions from vendors interested in the project. Some vendors were concerned about the project scope in relation to the budget. The University Relations department will provide results of the discovery and prebuild phase, including information architecture and survey results, as well as the content for the web pages. The successful vendor will incorporate these findings into the new design. The university is open to reviewing price submissions that exceed the budget of $10,000 and may seek additional funding if necessary. The current software program used is Macromedia Dreamweaver, and it should be used for ongoing maintenance. If a vendor doesn't use this program, they should use a compatible program to produce clean HTML code. Vendors can suggest enhancements beyond the core project, such as interactive elements using Java or JavaScript, but these enhancements should be listed as separately priced menu items. The university may consider these recommendations for future budgeting if they cannot be implemented in the current fiscal period. The University Relations office can assist with photography by providing scanning capabilities. They have a flatbed scanner and can provide images in EPS or PSD formats, or process images using Photoshop actions provided by the vendor. The document also includes miscellaneous information, such as the possibility of a best and final offer request, the university's migration to PeopleSoft 8.0, and the university's support for minority participation in procurements. Vendors can mention value-added considerations in their proposals, but the evaluation will focus on meeting the core objectives of redesigning the home page. There are approximately 150 top-level pages, but vendors should primarily focus on the top 50 pages directly linked off the homepage. The university wants the homepage to support both new visitors and frequent users, so the successful vendor should provide navigation options for both. The due date for proposal submission has been extended to November 14th, and vendors must acknowledge receipt of the notes.
