  • YEAR CREATED: 2008
  • ENTITY TYPE: County
  • TYPE OF DOCUMENT: BID - ITB, IFB, ITT, RFB
The document provides specifications for traffic safety vests for crossing guards. The document outlines various requirements for the design, fabric, color, striping, lettering, closure, and labeling of the vests. The design of the vest should be unisex, V-neck, and sleeveless. The fabric used for the front and rear panels should be polyester, with specific weight requirements. The color of the vest should be high visibility yellow. The striping and lettering on the vest should be made with silver 3M Scotchlite reflective material, with all letters capitalized. The front panel should have a vertical stripe on the left side, with a pencil pocket sewn onto the left side adjacent to the inner side of the vertical stripe. The top opening of the pocket should be approximately 1.25" wide and made of matching high visibility fluorescent yellow fabric. The front panel should also have hook/loop material sewn in at the top of the left and right side panels at the shoulder area for attachment to the back panel, providing two additional breakaway points. The rear panel should have two vertical stripes on the left and right side of the shoulder area. Each stripe should be approximately 4.5" wide, with outside borders edged in black and a 1" wide stripe of silver 3M reflective material. The center area of each stripe should be approximately 1.75" wide in high visibility fluorescent yellow. The bottom edge of the vertical stripes should end at the top edge of the topmost horizontal stripe. The rear panel should also have hook/loop material sewn on the inside/top of each panel at the shoulder area for attachment to the front panel to provide breakaway points. There should be two horizontal stripes matching the design of the vertical stripe placed at the bottom portion of the panel. The top edge of the upper horizontal stripe should be approximately 6" - 11" from the bottom edge or tail portion of the panel and should run along the full width of the panel. In the center of the horizontal stripe, the word "POLICE" should be applied in silver 3M Scotchlite reflective material. The top edge of the lower second horizontal stripe should be spaced approximately 1-5/8" to 1-3/4" below the bottom edge of the upper horizontal stripe and should run along the entire width of the tail portion of the panel. The front and rear panels should attach to each other with hook/loop closures, allowing for at least 6" to 8" of adjustment to accommodate different clothing layers. There should be a microphone tab attached at the top of the shoulder area on either the front or rear panel, made of heavy-duty material in high visibility or silver. The tab should provide a 1.75" to 2" loop for microphone attachment and secure attachment to the vest material. Each vest should have a label indicating compliance with the ANSI/ISEA 207-2006 Standard for Public Safety Vests, as well as a warning, content, and care label. The document also provides stock sizes for the vests, ranging from small to 4XL.
