RFP - Furnish, Deliver and Install Print Management Software 2007

  • YEAR CREATED: 2007
  • ENTITY TYPE: County
  • TYPE OF DOCUMENT: RFP - Request for Proposals
This document is a Request for Proposal (RFP) from DuPage County in Illinois. The county is seeking proposals for a software-based Enterprise Output Management application. The goals of this application are to eliminate legacy interfaces to laser printers, utilize departmental printers for both mainframe and distributed application output, and reduce costs associated with SNA printers. The county currently uses an IBM mainframe running Z/OS 1.4 with TCP/IP connectivity. However, it does not currently have any application to print directly to TCP/IP attached printers. The mainframe print data stream is primarily COBOL application coded XEROS Escape Sequence (XES) data utilizing a User Defined Key (UDK) to trigger non-printable commands to the printer. The county does not have a printer that supports this data stream directly, so it must be converted to an open-system data stream such as PCL or PostScript using a combination of products. The software solution being sought should be compatible in a multi-platform distributed environment of Windows-based servers and IBM mainframe. It should provide functionality for print capture, print redirection, online viewing, retention, management, and delivery. The primary application is to allow end users to view their mainframe reports online and route print jobs directly from a JES spool to remote departmental TCP/IP network attached printers. The solution should also provide delivery of print from the mainframe and Windows platforms to printers, email addresses, fax servers, and webservers. The document includes a table of specific functional requirements for the solution, such as direct output delivery, handling of data streams, compression and encryption support, tracking and monitoring of print requests, recovery and restart capabilities, scalability, end user interface, and more. The proposal response should include pricing for a fully functional environment to meet all the requirements outlined in the document. The pricing should be based on a 3-year agreement and should cover one-time charges, ongoing maintenance costs, and terms and conditions for each year. The response should also include pricing for deliverables, licensing options, training options, setup and configuration.
