  • YEAR CREATED: 2005
  • ENTITY TYPE: State
  • TYPE OF DOCUMENT: SPEC - Specification
This document is a specification for rainwear to be used by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) employees. The document outlines the requirements for the construction, printing, reflective trim, packaging, and warranty of the rainwear. According to the specifications, the rainwear should be made of fabric that is certified by the fabric manufacturer and reflective material manufacturer. The coats and jackets should have a cape vent back with a minimum two-inch overlap and three or more vents under the cape for ventilation. The sleeves can be either raglan or set-in sleeves. Vent holes under the arm are not required, but if provided, they should have non-conductive eyelets or be reinforced with non-conductive heat seal tape or double fabric. The coats should be single-breasted with a stand-up or fold-down collar, snap fastener with front closure, storm front fly, and at least one front pocket on each side. The jackets should have similar features but are shorter in length. The hoods should be detachable with snaps and have a draw cord inserted in the hood facing. The pants should have an elastic waist with a drawstring, plain front, and wide leg for boot entry. The rainwear should have the TxDOT logo printed on the back in the shoulder blade area. The printing should be black and applied by stenciling or silk screen. The printing should not overlap the end of the cape vent or the reflective tape. The reflective trim material should be ANSI/ISEA 107-2004 certified and have a minimum two-inch wide 3M Scotchlite 8710 or Reflexlite silver tape. The trim should be attached by a pressure heat seal process and remain firmly affixed to the rainwear. The rainwear should be individually packaged in clear plastic bags, neatly folded to avoid wrinkles. The packaging should be labeled with the size and purchase order number. Each coat and jacket package should include a hood, neatly folded. The rainwear should be warranted against defective materials, workmanship, and failures for at least 24 months. The document also includes attachments illustrating the wording arrangement and logo placement for the printing and the configuration of the reflective trim on the coats, jackets, and pants.
