Overview

Disasters—whether natural, technological, or health-related—pose serious challenges to public-sector supply chains. This webinar equips procurement professionals with strategies to build resilience and ensure continuity of critical services during disruptions. Drawing on NIGP’s Values and Guiding Principles, FEMA’s Supply Chain Resilience Guide and the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM) Principles and Requirements for AEM and CEM certification, we’ll focus on risk assessment, emergency protocols, proactive inventory evaluation, and cross-agency coordination. We will share lessons from recent events, including Hurricane Helene and the Los Angeles Wildfires, exploring public–private collaborations and the use of Amazon Business procurement tools to address preparedness, recovery and response. By combining public-sector best practices with private-sector agility and innovation, agencies can better anticipate disruptions, respond rapidly to evolving needs, and maintain operational continuity under pressure. Attendees will leave with actionable strategies, templates, and examples to assess their own readiness and build a resilient supply chain to withstand whatever comes next.

What You'll Learn

After completing this online training session, learners will be able to:

  • Identify the key components of a comprehensive public-sector disaster preparedness and supply chain resilience plan.
  • Evaluate how emerging technologies and public–private partnerships can enhance disaster response capabilities.
  • Apply lessons learned from real-world case studies to improve emergency procurement, logistics coordination, and cross-agency collaboration.
