Overview

This session will examine the world of construction contracting and discuss various strategies for ensuring diversity at both the prime and sub-contract level. Through effective outreach and training, organizations can help level the playing field for small and diverse contractors. The power of small businesses in the US will be shared, as well as the many benefits of promoting diversity in procurement. Case studies will be shared of practices by leading organizations that work diligently to diversify their construction spend.

Presenter Bio(s)

Darin Matthews, FNIGP, NIGP-CPP, CPPO, CPSM, is a director for Negometrix USA. He spent nearly 30 years as a chief procurement officer for several US organizations and is past president of NIGP: The Institute for Public Procurement. Darin is the author of several books and articles on procurement and speaks throughout the word on leading procurement practices. He holds a Master’s degree in Acquisition Management and also a Master of Education in Instructional Design.
 
Nathan Mosley, BA, CPPB, is a sourcing manager for Facebook where he oversees the procurement and contracting process for major infrastructure projects. He has over 20 years of experience in procurement in both the public and private sectors and has a track record of helping ensure diversity and inclusion throughout the procurement process. Nathan is a graduate of Concordia University and holds an Executive Certificate in Construction Contracting from Portland State University.
 
 

Attendance for Individuals

In order to receive one contact hour, each member needs to register for the webinar individually in advance and then watch the live webinar. Your credit is tabulated by match between your login and your registration.

Attendance for Groups

There is a Group Sign-In Form provided with each webinar. The group sign-in form does not register anyone for the webinar, it just verifies live attendance. Each person will receive their login email on the day of the webinar – this verifies their registration. The group sign in form verifies that they watched the live webinar.

Mr. Darin L. Matthews, NIGP-CPP, CPPO, CPSM, FNIGP, C.P.M. Darin currently serves as a director for Negometrix USA, a leading e-procurement provider, and is also Chair of the Procurement & Supply Chain Program at the University of California, Santa Cruz. He has thirty years of procurement management experience in state and local government, higher education, and private industry. Darin speaks throughout the world on a variety of procurement topics, and his writings have been featured in Inside Supply Management, Government Procurement, Inside Supply Management, The Public Manager and The Journal of Public Procurement. His books include Warehousing and Inventory Control, Logistics and Transportation, and Effective Supply Management Performance. He has served on the faculty at numerous universities including Florida Atlantic University, University of Illinois, Portland State University, and Cal-Berkeley. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business/Political Science and Master degrees in Acquisition Management and Education/Technology. Darin is a certified instructor for NIGP and served as their President in 2007. He has also served as a board member of the Universal Public Procurement Certification Council and the Public Procurement Research Center at Florida Atlantic University. In 2020 Darin began serving as host of the podcast, They Evolution of Procurement, which is available on Spotify, Apple, and Google. Cancellation Policy

Registration and payment must be received 24 hours prior to the course start date. After this time, registrations will be based on space availability.  A full refund, less a $75 administrative fee will be given for cancellations made in writing 31+ days prior to the seminar date by emailing RegistrationInfo@nigp.org. No refunds are given for cancellations received within 24 hours of the seminar start date. There are no refunds for no-shows. If the seminar is cancelled for any reason, NIGP's liability is limited to the registration fee only.  

Attendee substitutions within the same agency may be done at any time with email notification to NIGP. If attending via scholarship, please provide documentation verifying the scholarship issuer's name and contact information in lieu of payment information.
