BID - Thermoplastic Pavement Marking 2010

  • YEAR CREATED: 2010
  • ENTITY TYPE: County
  • TYPE OF DOCUMENT: BID - ITB, IFB, ITT, RFB
The document provides detailed information about the payment process, work orders, invoices, and materials requirements for thermoplastic pavement markings. It mentions that the Contractor will receive an estimate of pay item quantities from the Contract Administrator (CA) for each work order, which will be used to prepare monthly invoices. However, incomplete or defective work orders will not be accepted for payment until all thermoplastic pavement markings work is fully completed. The Contractor is required to submit a copy of each invoice to the CA, following the guidelines in Section 15 of the General Conditions. The original invoice should also be submitted. After replacing any defective markings and obtaining final acceptance from the CA, a separate invoice for the retainage due should be submitted. Final payment will be made to the Contractor after the 90-day observation period following the completion of the last work during the Contract Work Period, and upon final acceptance. The County will pay any reserved or retained sums, deducting any amount that can be permanently retained as per the Contract provisions. The document emphasizes that any additional work required by the drawings and specifications, without specific payment provisions, should be performed by the Contractor without extra compensation. If the Contractor or its employees cause damage to public or private property, it is their responsibility to restore or repair it at their own cost. Failure to do so may result in the CA taking action to restore the property, with the cost deducted from the Contractor's payment. The CA has the authority to determine the quality and acceptability of materials and work performed, interpret plans and specifications, and decide the amount and quantity of work to be paid for. The decisions and estimates made by the CA are considered final and conclusive. Furthermore, the document provides specifications for the thermoplastic pavement striping material. It should be composed of an ester of resin, with a minimum content of 8% by weight of the entire material formulation. The binder used should not contain certain specified substances. The material should also be reflectorized, resistant to traffic-induced deformation, and impervious to degradation caused by motor oil, diesel fuel, grease deposits, and ice-preventative chemicals. Only new materials are allowed to be used for the contract.
