Description
The Purchasing Coordinator incumbent serves as an integral part of the Lauderdale Lakes Financial Services Purchasing Team. This is responsible administrative work involving the purchasing of equipment, materials, supplies and services for all departments within the city. Work involves a variety of municipal purchasing assignments of varying complexity and difficulty from inception of demand through processing general office experience to the procurement process. Employee must exercise considerable initiative and independent judgment in planning, scheduling, organizing and follow through on job assignments. Communicate/clarify with issuing department, solicit verbal or written proposals, issue written Purchase Orders and Change Orders as appropriate. Evaluate vendor proposals, clarify with vendors if required, make purchase recommendations and communicate with issuing department as necessary. Prepare formal request for proposal and bid packages and distributes to selected and subsequently requesting vendors. Assist in RFP openings along with subsequent proposal evaluations, vendor research, reports and presentations. Maintain centralized purchasing data base on departmental purchases, vendors, commodities and related statistical information in the MUNIS system.Requirements
(A) Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Public Administration or closely related field; and a minimum of three (3) years of experience in public procurement. Additional qualifying experience or completion of coursework at an accredited college or university in a procurement or business-related field may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required experience or education.Application Process
