Government Procurement Magazine - January 2019

The December 2018/January 2019 issue of Government Procurement magazine features the results of a new NIGP benchmark study about public procurement compensation and retention. This in-depth article includes a 14-year salary trend for procurement professionals from 2001-2018 (no data was collected between 2011 and 2015). The study is based on survey responses from NIGP members and provides useful information about salary trends at multiple levels in public procurement. This issue also includes part two of the 10-part series "Top 10 Energy Mistakes you Didn't Realize You Were Making (& How to Avoid Them)" with a look at the mistake of getting the most competitive rates. The article explores why this is a mistake and how procurement professionals can fix it. This edition of "Language Matters" focuses on defining public-private partnerships (P3s) for facilities and infrastructure. The article "How Much Do You Really Know about Your Suppliers" provides insight into how procurement professionals can learn about their suppliers' history when that information isn't apparent through a proposal.
