Organize and prioritize workloads in such a manner that all tasks are accomplished within the acceptable timeframe; Obtain a thorough working knowledge of commodity classifications as assigned through vendor contacts, literature or other means; Work independently or as part of a leadership team; Communicate effective and professionally with various levels of district staff and the business community; Interpret data and research technical information necessary for specification preparation and for evaluation purposes; Understand all laws, rules, regulations and policies as they relate to school systems; Computer skills, including familiarity with on-line purchasing systems and applications, i.e. spreadsheets, word processing, report writing, data bases and data retrieval systems; Review purchase requisitions to assure source and price are in the best interests of the district; Prepare complete bid specifications when required by state law, or when economically advantageous to do so; Procure goods and services.


- Bachelor's Degree; or associate degree and at least two years purchasing experience; - Two years' experience in purchasing; governmental or K-12 educational experience preferred; - Buyer level or above certification in purchasing from a nationally recognized purchasing association or obtain one in the first five years of employment; - Must be able to attend and complete various training sessions to maintain knowledge of current technology and systems; - Available after working hours (on call) for emergencies, disaster responses and scheduled shift work as a part of the Emergency Response Team as needed;
