DescriptionThe Assistant Director/Purchasing performs supervisory and specialized administrative work overseeing operational aspects of County purchasing programs. This position prepares, reviews, and evaluates complex Bid, RFP and RFQ specifications; reviews submittals and performs research to determine available sources of supplies, materials, equipment and services at prices and quality standards that best benefit the County. This position is also responsible for reviewing and processing purchase request, assisting in the development of purchasing policies and procedures; assisting in communications between the Purchasing Department and the Commissioners Court and other County departments. Work also involves supervising the purchasing staff, including performing routine personnel administrative functions.
RequirementsBachelor's degree in related field and a minimum five years of experience in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience required. Certified Public Purchasing Officer or Certified Professional Public Buyer preferred. Possession of a valid driver's license. Must be able to obtain a State of Texas driver's license within 90 days of employment.
