DescriptionThe Budget Analyst provides budgetary support to the Finance Director for planning, preparation and administration of City’s annual operating and capital budgets and provides statistical and benchmark analysis for various city services. Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Finance Director.
RequirementsAbility to understand governmental accounting, and expenditure control • Ability to understand and apply accounting system procedures • Ability to coordinate a multi-department budget preparation effort • Knowledge of cost allocations processes and techniques • Ability to understand and communicate technical issues related to the budget document • Ability to create statistical models for analysis and forecasting • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel worksheet functions. • Ability to understand complex mathematical computations • Ability to prepare financial and statistical worksheets and reports • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the public • Ability of communicate in written and oral formats in a professional manner • Ability to maintain requirements for internal controls, and data integrity by consistently recognizing organizational standards, prioritization, professional ethics, and customer care practices in a dynamic and changing environment. • Ability to work additional hours during peak workload periods EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 1. Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field. 2. Advanced competencies in Microsoft Excel. (Training, education, or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.) LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATION
