Read on to find out more about this opportunity: Are you interested in working for the County of Marin, Department of Public Works? There is currently one (1) full-time (75 bi-weekly hours) position that will be filled at the Purchaser I OR Purchaser II level. The Purchaser I is the entry level within the purchaser series. Incumbents may advance to Purchaser II after gaining experience and demonstrating proficiency which meet the qualifications for the higher-level class. This ability is typically gained in 24 months at the Purchaser I level Candidates will be considered for the level(s) for which they apply, assuming minimum qualifications are met. The Purchaser I (Purchaser) will join the Procurement team which ensures the County gets the right materials at the right time and for the right price while following applicable laws, codes, and ordinances.

Work Location: Assignments in this position require working onsite at the Marin County Civic Center. After successful completion of the one-year probationary period, the candidate, with the approval of the supervisor, may have the option of a Flexible/Hybrid work schedule.

ABOUT THE POSITION: The Purchaser is an integral team member in the successful delivery of countywide procurement services. Responsibilities focus on support of the decentralized purchasing process of wide variety of materials, equipment, supplies and services for various County departments. The Purchaser compile data, runs reports and researches requests as needed by departments, management or staff. Additionally, the Purchaser will assist in sourcing and obtaining quotes, reviewing requisitions and supporting the Procurement team and County departments with the bid process. As trainings are a key function of the procurement team, the Purchaser will take part in the planning and execution of monthly brown bags and bi-annual Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) training. The Purchaser is expected to learn and follow best practices within procurement guidelines and compliance on a federal, state and County level.

Requirements

Our Highly Qualified Candidate: The highly qualified candidate works well on a fast-paced, diverse and interdependent team. The ideal candidate has exposure to Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, such as Tyler’s Enterprise ERP Software Powered by Munis. The candidate should be familiar with requisitions, purchase orders, and contracts, and has worked within the public-sector community. In addition, the ideal candidate has developed strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a diverse range of customers and colleagues. The candidate possesses strong problem-solving and organizational skills and is able to effectively collaborate both verbally and in writing with team members and others contacted through the course of their work. Minimum Qualifications: Typically, equivalent to possession of a High School diploma or its equivalent and three years of clerical or administrative support experience which include duties related to purchasing operations.

Employment with the County requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect. Employees are required to complete all Disaster Service Worker-related training as assigned, and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.
