Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority is seeking a Senior Contracts Administrator to add to its Professional Services Team. This is a project position responsible for Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) contracts and will end once BART Phase II is completed. Definition Under direction, a Senior Contracts Administrator supervises public contract administration activities, particularly those for the services of architects and engineers (A&E); and performs highly complex contract administration work. Distinguishing Characteristics This advanced professional is the working supervisory level in the series. Incumbents supervise professional, support staff and consultants in addition to performing highly complex contract administration work. This class is responsible for a major functional area or program and must use substantial judgment and initiative in resolving problems and making recommendations, particularly regarding the development of procurement strategies, the determination of contract types, and the development of strategies for contract and dispute resolution negotiations. This class works closely with VTA's Legal Department. The Senior Contracts Administrator is distinguished from the class of Contracts Manager in that the latter has overall responsibility for VTA contract administration activities. Employment Standards Sufficient training, education and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the above tasks and the possession of the following knowledge and abilities. Development of the required knowledge, skills and abilities is typically obtained through training and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in business administration, purchasing, economics or a related field, and four years of experience performing advanced level contract administration activities, particularly with A&E contracts and Cost Reimbursement Contracts, one year of which must have been in a lead, supervisory or management capacity.
