DescriptionThe City of Independence, Missouri (pop 121,000), is seeking a process-savvy procurement professional to be its Purchasing Manager. The Purchasing Manager directs and exercises city-wide procurements with a focus on efficiency and cost-savings. The city employs over 1,025 staff and has an annual budget of $337 million. The Purchasing Manager reports to the Chief Finance Officer and oversees three direct reports.
RequirementsThis position requires a Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in business administration, public administration, accounting, or a related field; and, four to six years of progressively responsible related experience; including at least two years of supervisory experience or, any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job. Desired but not required licenses include Certified Professional Public Buyer and Certified Public Procurement Officer. Qualified candidates will demonstrate well-developed analytical and budgetary and financial management skills and proficiency in using a variety of computer software applications, such as Microsoft products. Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
