DescriptionSeeking an experienced Procurement Manager to coordinate and execute all aspects of the City's formal and informal procurement and contracting activities related to the acquisition of goods, materials, supplies, equipment, and services. The Procurement Manager procures a wide variety of commodities and services using such approaches as RFBs, RFPs, RFQs, and involving difficult, complex specifications, multiple contract amendments, highly sensitive information, and other complicating job elements. The Procurement Manager is also responsible for the management and oversight of the Purchase Card (P-Card) program and plays a role in the development of policy recommendations. Work involves a high level of independent judgment, initiative, and discretion within delegated procurement authority.
RequirementsBachelor's Degree in Purchasing, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field. 3+ years of experience procuring a variety of commodities (including professional providers services) and in contract management (creation, review, modification, and monitoring); experience working in the public sector preferred. Certified Public Purchasing Officer (CPPO), Certified Professional Public Buyer (CPPB), or Certified Professional Purchasing Manager (CPPM) certification preferred. The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator with outstanding people skills, as the position requires extensive contact with City staff, officials, vendors, and the public. To be successful in this position, you must have proven time management and follow-through skills, a demonstrated knowledge of and experience in procurement, and an understanding of how to balance procurement best practices with operational efficiency. You must be an organized and analytical individual who pays attention to the details and has a willingness to learn and continue to undertake greater challenges. Requires strong and proficient technology skills, and the ability to effectively handle and prioritize multiple projects, work with a high degree of accuracy, and meet firm deadlines.
