This position will serve in a manager capacity for procurement and contracting of architectural, engineering, construction, and other services as well as furniture, fixtures, headquarter supplies and equipment related to capital improvement projects. This position requires a Bachelor degree in architecture, business, construction science, education, or a related field required. Juris Doctor (J.D.), Master of Laws, or Master of Architecture degree is preferred. Five (5) years of successful experience in a school district, government, or business required. A license to practice architecture or law in the state of Texas is preferred. A minimum of two (2) to three (3) years of experience in procurement and contracting for architecture, engineering, and construction services is required. Full job description may be found at:


This position requires knowledge of the principles of procurement, contracting and construction management; methods of cost analysis; work scheduling methods; general principles of supervision and training; the ability to read and interpret construction related financial documents including qualifications, bids, proposals, requests for draws, and change orders. This position requires the knowledge of State and Austin ISD legal framework, local policy, and administrative regulation of procurement of goods and services. This position will oversee the District procurement methods including competitive bidding, competitive sealed proposals, requests for proposals for services, negotiation, and strategic sourcing. This position requires training in specification writing, bid document preparation, and proper procurement techniques. This position also requires the ability to analyze problems and develop solutions. Incumbent must be able to read and understand technical specifications and legal codes and to prepare written reports, proposals, specifications and correspondence and make effective oral presentations. The incumbent must possess the ability to coordinate multiple projects and assignments; a high degree of flexibility is required. Dynamic interpersonal and communication skills are required. Employees in this position must be able to read, write, and speak/communicate in English to receive and to provide work-related information in a timely manner to other employees, supervisors, principals, school personnel, volunteers and where appropriate, visitors and students.
