There is currently one (1) full-time (75 bi-weekly hours) position that will be filled at the Purchaser I OR Purchaser II level. The Purchaser II is the journey level within the purchaser series. The Purchaser II (Purchaser) will join the Procurement team which ensures the County gets the right materials at the right time and for the right price while following applicable laws, codes, and ordinances. The Purchaser is an integral team member in the successful delivery of countywide procurement services. The Purchaser has centralized oversight of countywide purchases for compliance with local, state and federal Purchasing laws, codes, and ordinances. The Purchaser works with various departments Countywide to ensure compliance through collaboration, communication and training. Purchasers will prepare or facilitate formal and informal solicitations, review requisitions and contracts for compliance with policies, codes and ordinances, and issue Purchase Orders and service agreements. It is expected that Purchasers work directly with vendors, departmental representatives, and the general public. As part of the Procurement Team, the Purchaser will participate and lead in departmental and countywide trainings and may serve as a representative of Procurement on various committees, groups and meetings. Requirements

We recognize your time is valuable, so please do not apply if you do not have at least the following required Minimum Qualifications: Typically, equivalent to one year of college coursework in business or public administration, or a related field and two years of purchasing experience at the Purchaser I level, preferably in a public agency. Additional purchasing experience may be substituted for the education on a year-for-year basis.

Disaster Service Workers: All County of Marin employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state and local law (California Government Code Section 3100-3109). Employment with the County requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect. Employees are required to complete all Disaster Service Worker-related training as assigned, and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.
