The City of Chesapeake is recruiting experienced Procurement Specialist candidates. Based on the qualifications and experience of the candidates interviewed, positions will be filled at the Procurement Specialist III or Procurement Specialist II level. The City will compensate for experience in public procurement, especially at the local government level. This means that selected candidates with significant relevant procurement experience may be compensated higher in the pay range. Procurement Specialist III hiring salary range: $53,683 to $69,788. Procurement Specialist II hiring salary range: $51,099 to $66,429. Hiring salary dependent on qualifications and experience. Requirements

Procurement Specialist III: Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in purchasing, marketing, business management, or a closely related field. In addition to satisfying the vocational/education standards, this class requires a minimum of three years of related, full-time equivalent experience. Procurement Specialist II: Requires a bachelor’s degree or any equivalent combination of education and experience in purchasing, marketing, business management, or a closely related field. In addition to satisfying the vocational/education standards, this class requires a minimum of two years of related, full-time equivalent. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies. Emergency operations support work and work locations may be outside of normal job duties.
