Full description on our website> Inside Parkway > Benefits and Wellness Essential Job Functions: The Senior Buyer is thoroughly engaged in identifying and analyzing suppliers that support the mission of the Parkway School District. This role is directly involved in soliciting optimal savings opportunities for the district. The Senior Buyer will support district departments through maintaining positive supplier relationships and ensuring efficient and effective procurement of goods and services. She or He will develop bid specifications and documentation for the district; obtain and evaluate bids; conduct bid openings with vendors and notifies them of bid results; prepares award documents for Board of Education approval; responds to vendor inquiries; aids district personnel in finding suppliers for their needs; and negotiates problems with vendors.



  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Mgt., Operations, Finance, Accounting, or Business preferred
  • 3+ years of prior purchasing experience for a large organization; prefer technology and education related purchasing experience
  • Highly self-motivated with the ability to balance multiple priorities
  • Ability to work under pressure with very tight timeliness in a calm and professional manner
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), Google Drive (Docs, Gmail, Sheets)
  • Highly detail oriented and organized
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing with staff, administration, and vendors of the district
  • Knowledge of school district policies and procedures
  • Certified Public Purchasing Buyer (CPPB) certification preferred
  • Knowledge of sustainable purchasing practices and rating systems such as the EPA's Environmental Preferable Purchasing, Green Seal, EnergyStar, EcoLogo, Forest Stewardship Council, etc. preferred
  • Experience with online bidding platforms is preferred
  • Ability to perform other duties as assigned
