DescriptionBegin your procurement and purchasing career as a Buyer Trainee or evolve your experience as a Buyer by joining the County of Sonoma General Services team! Note: If you are interested in applying to either level, you must apply to the separate concurrent recruitment being conducted for that level. As a Buyer Trainee or Buyer, you will learn how to purchase, or negotiate to purchase, items in both general and specialized commodity areas, such as equipment, materials, services, construction, or data processing. You will also learn how to work with department officials to determine needs, initiate and process requisitions, resolve problems concerning goods or billing, communicate with vendors, and review bids for legal correctness, price, and acceptability.
Additionally, your role will include: - Creating Purchase Orders and Enterprise Financial System (EFS) contracts, and documenting all steps in the County's EFS - Preparing and posting formal solicitations such as Requests for Proposals (RFPs) on the Sonoma County Supplier Portal - Creating and maintaining Blanket Purchase Orders (BPOs) for a wide variety of goods and service utilized by County departments - Analyzing and evaluating solicitation submittals and distributing awards - Assisting County departments with assessing and clarifying their needs and providing information on how to prepare solicitation specifications All County staff are designated as Disaster Service Workers and this position may be responsible for working in the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and assisting with purchasing emergency-related goods and services.
