UPPCC Recertification at a Glance

CPPB and CPPO are certifications offered by the Universal Public Procurement Certification Council (UPPCC). This information is being provided to support NIGP members.

  • Certificants must hold a valid current certification and must apply for recertification every five years. No examination is required.
  • UPPCC Application for Recertification
  • Certificants can recertify under lapsed status within one year of the certification expiration date. Lapsed Certificants are required to earn 55 contact hours

All certificants must earn a minimum of 45 contact hours for active/non-lapsed certifications and a minimum of 55 contact hours for lapsed certifications.

Contact hours can be earned in the following areas:

Continuing Education & Professional Development

Applicants earn 1 contact hour for each clock hour of education that is related to procurement or designed to prepare or enhance one’s ability to perform in a current or future procurement role.

Employment experience in public procurement

Applicants may earn 1 contact hour for each year of continued employment experience in public procurement. Consulting and private procurement experience is excluded. Partial years will be pro-rated for credit.

Professional Contributions

Leadership roles in procurement organizations at the national and chapter level, authoring a published article, teaching (up to 20 contact hours)
