For 2021, given the challenges brought on by COVID, Chapter Academy will be a six-month chapter learning experience.  Engage in this exclusive six-month learning experience featuring an agenda that's relevant with compelling content designed to help you succeed in today's ever-changing world. Leave every session with new ideas that inspire action.

Join us for a virtual happy hour where Academy attendees will open a pre-event swag box, NIGP staff will preview the program and we will get to know each other in an informal and fun environment!

Its a new year which calls for new ideas and perhaps a refresh on tried and true ones. We’ll tap into a broader definition of member engagement to explore engaging members differently for collaborating, meeting and learning.

  • Develop a broader definition of member engagement (beyond events to content, micro-engagement, community service, 1:1 activities); let’s not leave members who aren’t engaging virtually behind
  • Share innovative ideas for engaging members
  • Idea storming: what activities can we offer virtually that are new and different? What new initiatives can we consider? How can we think small in-person to complement virtual?
  • Beyond traditional channels: How are chapters convening boards to get the job done? Are people pushing video updates?
  • How to enhance meeting virtually

How we can unlock regular and new channels to support our chapter’s member services and programs. Let’s take a fresh look at the revenue mix, identify alternative resources and refresh our sponsorship programs for a more virtual world.

  • Look at revenue mix: partnerships, sponsorships, member support
  • Identifying alternative revenue resources
  • Crafting new sponsorship ideas
  • When chapters should be tapping into reserves

Association member research says members want to volunteer. Let’s explore what’s stopping them, what’s motivating them and how to tap into the virtual opportunities to engage more members in the work of the chapter.

  • Explore micro and traditional opportunities and virtual volunteering
  • Downsizing volunteer responsibilities
  • How to engage members virtually
  • Taking advantage of new members participating virtually

This will be the year of the virtual/in-person blend. We’ll continue to tap technology and tools to bring our members together as we explore how to (and when to) bridge back to in-person events. Together, we’ll share what’s worked and talk through innovative options.

  • Favorite tech and tools chapters use 
  • What is hybrid and can we do it? Can we look at the reverse trade show?
  • Tools for ice breakers, socials, team building
  • Communications and marketing tools and tips
