The Spring RFP Learning Lab Series kicks off February 6, 2025 consisting of 7 sessions covering a range of important topics related to RFP’s. In this webinar, the presenters will provide insight into each of the Learning Labs discussing the topic and primary focus of each lab session.
 
Session descriptions on paper or the screen don’t always accurately convey the contents of a course or its purpose. This webinar will be an overview of the RFP process and an opportunity for interested students to determine which lab(s) may benefit them the most.
 
The RFP Learning Lab Series has been retooled based on past attendee feedback. The most significant change is the combining of sessions into a single 4 hour block. This reduces the number of sessions to 7 and will allow the instructors to include more material by gaining additional instructional time.


What You'll Learn

After completing this online training session, learners will be able to:
 
1.  Understand which learning lab(s) meet their training needs
2.  Gain insight in possible opportunities to address practice gaps
3.  Provide a possible foundation when considering expanding the use of RFP in an organization
 

Presenter Bio(s) 

Mike Thornton is a Senior Procurement Consultant with Civic Initiatives, LLC.  Mike was most recently the Purchasing Manager for the City of Leesburg, Florida for 16 years and Mike has more than 30 years in the public procurement sector.  In his current role, Mike works with public procurement organizations across the United States and Puerto Rico providing support and consulting for their procurement activities.  These roles include services from facilitating their solicitations to providing consulting on public procurement best practices and process.  Mike takes a specific interest in promoting and encouraging innovation in public procurement using technology.  Mike has volunteered for several opportunities at NIGP including co-author for Global Best Practices.
 

Stephanie Dion is the Procurement Manager for the Canoe Procurement Group of Canada - Rural Municipalities of Alberta.  She has 16 years of public procurement experience with various types of public entities in Canada. Stephanie graduated university with a teaching degree and has been involved with professional development in various capacities. She has been an active volunteer and advisor with professional associations since 2012 and now serves as the Chair of the Content Management Committee for the National Institute of Government Purchasing (NIGP). Stephanie recently contributed a few articles to procurement magazines and is the recipient of NIGP’s 2021 Buyer of the Year Award.

Victor Leamer has over 34 years of public procurement experience at the county, state department, and state-wide levels currently as Senior Buyer with Spokane County, Washington. Victor teaches Sourcing in the Public Sector and the Core Certificate: Foundations in Strategy and Policy for NIGP (virtual), the Learning Lab RFP series, and has presented NIGP webinars on protests, evaluating responsiveness in bids, virtual leadership, and contract price adjustments.  Victor was appointed to the NIGP Talent Council in 2021, serves on NIGP's Content Management Committee (formerly Knowledge Management Committee) since 2015, produces the monthly Radio NIGP show, and is a founding member/former Vice President of the Alaska/Hawaii Governmental Procurement Association NIGP Chapter.
 

Attendance for Individuals

In order to receive one contact hour for an educational webinar, each member needs to register for the webinar individually in advance and then watch the live webinar. Your credit is tabulated by match between your login and your registration.

Attendance for Groups

There is a Group Sign-In Form provided with each webinar. The group sign-in form does not register anyone for the webinar, it just verifies live attendance. Each person will receive their login email on the day of the webinar – this verifies their registration. The group sign in form verifies that they watched the live webinar.

All cancellations must be made in writing by emailing registrationinfo@nigp.org. Once the login email is sent, registrants that are non-members are not eligible for a refund. Registered participants who do not attend will not receive credit. Need to miss the webinar due to a last minute meeting? There is no need to cancel. You won't receive credit, but you will still receive all the handouts and the recording link.
