| Membership Categories and Rates
Please click here to view/print membership benefits-at-a-glance.AGENCY MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIESOrganizations are eligible to be considered for membership if they are federal, state/provincial, county, city, public schools, institutions of higher learning, commissions, boards, governmental hospitals, public authorities or institutions. Each member agency shall be represented by a professional representative who is currently and directly involved with the public procurement profession. This individual shall be designated as the "Agency Representative". The Agency Representative shall determine, through the membership dues structure, which employees of the agency are entitled to receive member benefits. All persons designated as Agency Members are entitled to all the privileges of membership, which include petitioning and voting rights, eligibility to serve as a member of a national committee, and eligibility to serve as a member or officer of the Board of Directors Each purchasing organization shall have its own membership and shall not be included under another (blanket) membership. Changes to a membership staff listing may occur only once a year, at the time of the renewal, unless: a. Adding of staff does not exceed the number of allowable staff based on the paid membership category; or b. If an employee has left the agency and has been replaced by another employee (no substitutions) Changes to an agency membership’s roster are allowable at any time based on the following parameters: (a) Any additions are allowable as long as the additional staff does not exceed the number of allowable staff based on the paid membership category; (b) Changes are allowable if an employee has left the agency and has been replaced by another employee. However, substituting one current employee with another current employee is not allowable except at the renewal period. If the additional staff does change the paid membership category, the following charges shall apply: (a) Within six (6) months after the agency has initiated or renewed its membership, the agency shall pay the difference between the current rates for the existing member category and the current rates for the new member category. (b) Within six (6) months prior to the renewal period, the agency may add new staff to its roster at a fee of $50 per person, with the understanding that the agency will be charged current fees for the new, higher member category upon renewal. Please note that NIGP Chapter membership does not entitle an agency or individual to an NIGP National membership. AGENCY MEMBERSHIPS
*Individuals that are students enrolled full-time in an accredited community college or accredited college or university and actively pursuing an under-graduate or postgraduate degree in business or public administration, public purchasing or materials management shall be classified as a “Student Member”. Full-time enrollment shall be defined as twelve (12) or more credit hours for undergraduate students and six (6) or more hours for graduate students. ** Individuals that are appointed as teachers, research specialists, department heads, directors, or deans of a college, university, or other academic institution with an educational responsibility in business or public administration, public purchasing or materials management shall be classified as a “Faculty Member”. *** Purchase Orders are not accepted as the form of payment for individual memberships. Transitional Membership: An Individual Member covered under an agency membership who becomes unemployed has the option of establishing a complimentary, six-month individual membership to allow continuation of non-fee based member benefits while seeking employment. Such benefits are limited to the Members Only access to the NIGP Web site which provides opportunities for networking and access to the member directory and career opportunity postings. Please contact membershipinfo@nigp.org or call 1-800-367-6447 ext 223 to establish this membership.ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIPAssociate Memberships are defined as non-publicly funded schools, colleges, universities, and hospitals and faculty/staff from said organizations and their legal counsel. Associate members shall be entitled to one listing in the on-line membership directory and all privileges of membership except that of voting or holding elective office. They may serve the Institute under rules established by the Board of Directors.
