St. Louis County, Missouri seeks a Chief Diversity Officer (CDO) who will lead the effort to create and nurture an environment and practices that are welcoming, inclusive, respectful and free from discrimination for all citizens. County government employs approximately 4,200 people and purchases supplies and services from hundreds of vendors. The CDO will lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive diversity strategy designed to promote inclusion by recognizing, accommodating and appreciating individual differences and how they can be used as a source of strength in meeting the County’s strategic goals. Among the first priorities for the successful candidate will be assembling a knowledgeable staff and implementing recommendations on raising the level of involvement in procurement and contracting with minority owned, women owned, veteran owned and service disabled veteran owned businesses that were the focus in a recently completed disparity study.
Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 5-10 years of progressively responsible experience in Human Resources, Equal Employment Opportunity or Diversity and Inclusion programs. Applicants with experience working in large, complex government or business organizations are preferred.
