UPPCC Recertification at a Glance

CPPB and CPPO are certifications offered by the Universal Public Procurement Certification Council (UPPCC). This information is being provided to support NIGP members.

  • Certificants must hold a valid current certification and must apply for recertification every five years. No examination is required.
  • Current employment is not a prerequisite.
  • There is a single Application for Recertification for CPPB, CPPO and Dual Recertification.
  • Certificants can recertify under lapsed status within one year of the certification expiration date. Lapsed Certificants are required to earn 55 contact hours
  • Non-accredited contact hours must include the following information:
    • Title of Activity/Service
    • Continuing Education Provider
    • Date(s)
    • Contact hours
    • Description of the activity's relevance to procurement (referencing the current Universal Public Procurement Certification Council (UPPCC) Body of Knowledge)

All certificants must earn a minimum of 45 contact hours in at least
2 out of the 3 categories listed below:

Number 1 Continuing Education AccreditedContinuing Education Accredited

Courses that meet a quality standard set by a 3rd party. Higher education courses that offer credit hours and NIGP courses that offer CEUs (approved by IACET)Accredited for Recertification

Number 2 Continuing Education Non-Accredited

NIGP webinars, Educational workshops of NIGP Forum, NIGP courses that do not offer CEUs, Chapter educational eventsContinuing Education Non-Accredited
