Upon successful completion, participants will be able to:

Recognize the elements of the new body of knowledge that will be included as part of the examination process

Recognize what is expected of a candidate taking the new CPPB examination

List the various ways of preparing for the new CPPB examination

Define the contractual relationship between the UPPCC and NIGP

 

Course Outline

This Webinar will:

·         Outline the new format and setting of the new CPPB examination;

·         Provide insight as to typical elements of the body of knowledge that may be included as part of the examination;

·         Provide a brief study review of several key procurement topics followed by a set of typical practice examination questions; and

·         Provide examination tips on how to prepare for and take the new CPPB examination.

Please note: This Webinar is designed to provide a basic insight into the CPPB examination and is not designed to substitute other educational preparatory activities recommended in order to properly prepare for this examination

 

Presenter’s Biography

 

William E. Hertwig, Jr., CPPO, CPPB, C.P.M., A.P.P. recently retired as the Assistant Director of Operating Procurement in the Procurement and Material Management Department of MTA Metro-North Railroad, which is based in New York City. 

He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Pace University with a course concentration in marketing and secondary business education.  He also has 31 years of procurement experience: 14 years in the private sector with the JCPenney Company as a corporate retail and catalog purchasing manager, and 17 years of public sector experience in the purchasing and material management areas with MTA Metro-North Railroad.

Bill holds four nationally recognized procurement certification designations: CPPO (Certified Public Purchasing Officer), CPPB (Certified Professional Public Buyer), C.P.M. (Certified Purchasing Manager), and A.P.P. (Accredited Purchasing Practitioner). 

He is a certified NIGP (National Institute of Governmental Purchasing) teaching instructor and a former Chairman of the Board of Examiners for the UPPCC (Universal Public Purchasing Certification Council).  Bill is the author of the NIGP CPPO Review Guide and NIGP CPPB Review Guide

Bill also served as a member of the NIGP Education Committee and as a LEAP text reviewer during the development of NIGP’s LEAP Program.  Bill is an active member of the New York City based NIGP-New York chapter where he is the Professional -Development Chairman.  He is also an active member and former board member of the ISM NAPM-New York procurement chapter.
