Instructor Quality Assurance Program
NIGP requires that all instructors consider themselves to be ambassadors for the Institute and as such are required to exhibit leadership and skill in and outside the NIGP classroom. Our mission, " to provide our membership with education, research, technical assistance and networking opportunities in public purchasing, while promoting excellence…" speaks for itself. Often the NIGP classroom is the first opportunity we have to share the value of NIGP services to the public purchasing professional. Each instructor sets the pace for increased interest in membership and enthusiasm for professional development. As a result of this commitment, NIGP looks to its classroom participants to share candidly with us their impression of the instructors and class content by asking them to complete an anonymous evaluation form. We use this information to evaluate the value of the course content and the effectiveness of the instructor. In order to retain an active NIGP instructor status, the instructor is required to fulfill certain obligations. In March of 2000, the Education Committee and the Board of Directors adopted the policy that an instructor receives and retains an average instructor rating of at least 90% for each year of instruction. The Institute also requires each active instructor to participate in a minimal number of classroom experiences and professional development requirements designed to improve their presentation skills as well as maintain their viability in the instructor community. These skilled, educated and experienced instructors are committed to the students and the profession they serve.
