Chapter Awards Program

Recognizing the Efforts and Results of Meaningful Individual and Chapter Activities in Pursuit of Excellence in Public Procurement

The NIGP Chapter Awards Program includes the following awards:

NIGP Chapter of the Year Award - Large Chapter Category (201 + members)
NIGP Chapter of the Year Award - Medium Chapter Category (81-200 members)
NIGP Chapter of the Year Award - Small Chapter category (less than 80 members)
NIGP Buyer of the Year Award
NIGP Manager of the Year Award

All entries and supporting documentation must be
received or post-marked by April 30, 2008

How to Apply - General Information

NEW!! All application submissions and supporting documentation shall be sent in electronic format.

Email as an attachment to chapters@nigp.org (please specify Buyer, Manager or Chapter of the Year Award Submission and/or Supporting Documentation in the subject line) or
Send your submission on a CD (preferred method) to NIGP via mail (Attn: Jennifer Steffan, 151 Spring Street, Herndon, VA 20170) Please make sure you include the (saved) copy of the submission form on the CD.
Please consider the size of your submission prior to sending it as an email attachment. NIGP will not be responsible for last-minute entries that are too large to be received as an attachment.

Only active Chapters, Chapter members and NIGP National members in good standing are eligible to apply for the NIGP National Chapter, Buyer and Manager if the Year Awards. Submission criteria for the Chapter of the Year must document the efforts that an NIGP Chapter, individuals or groups within the Chapter framework have embarked on that directly support the mission of the institute.

Directions for Completing the Submission Forms

Chapter of the Year – Please indicate either a yes/no, a number or a percentage as it pertains to the questions. Any space that you did respond to must have supporting documentation labeled properly.
Buyer/Manager of the Year – For the activity that the nominee engaged in add a check mark or an X in the space provided. Do not enter points in any section.
Each entrant will receive a confirmation of receipt within one week of your submission date.

Supporting Documentation
All supporting documentation must include the Chapter’s or award nominee’s name, and labeled which section/area it is supporting. The documentation must only reflect activity that occurred in the previous year (January 1, 2007 – December 31, 2007). For the Buyer and Manager of the Year the activities can be for the last two years. The date of the activity must be evident.

All supporting documentation shall be identified with the section number and number of the area(s) which it supports, (Example: Section I.2, Section III.19).
Any supporting documents sent without this information will not be considered for this award.

Selection Process
All award submissions will be evaluated and the winners will be determined by the Chapter Relations Committee. Please note that unopposed award submission does not guarantee an award.

All award submissions become the property of NIGP. Please retain a copy for your records.
The names of the awards recipients will not be revealed until the official announcement at the Annual Forum Awards ceremony.

Local Awards
Chapters are encouraged to adopt an awards program and establish an awards committee at the local level. Chapters that select a local Buyer and Manager of the Year are encouraged to formally recognize the winners. To acknowledge them at the national level please complete the Local Chapter Award Recognition Form. Please feel free to nominate your local winners for the NIGP national Buyer and Manager Awards. The application process will need to be followed.
