Submission Guidelines:

The submission criteria for this award have changed. Please ensure that your application follows the listed format:

  1. All Chapter of the Year submissions and supporting documentation shall be sent in electronic format.

    1. Email as an attachment to: chapters@nigp.org – (please specify Chapter of the Year Award Submission and/or Supporting Documentation in subject line) or
       
    2. Send your submission on a CD (preferred method) to NIGP via mail (Attention: Jennifer Steffan, 151 Spring Street, Herndon, VA 20170).
       
  2. For each activity the Chapter engaged in during the past year, select the correct response in the space provided indicating that supporting documentation for the activity is included.
     
  3. Include your (saved) submission form when submitting via a CD. All supporting documentation must include the Chapter’s name, and labeled which section/area it is supporting. All supporting documentation shall be identified with the section number and number of the area(s) which it supports, (Example: Section I.2, Section III.19). Any supporting documents sent without this information will not be considered for this award.
     
  4. Submission criteria must document the efforts that an NIGP Chapter, individuals or groups within the Chapter framework have embarked on that directly support the mission of the institute.
     
  5. Submission criteria and supporting documentation must reflect activity accomplished within the past year; January 1, 2007 – December 31, 2007.
     
  6. All entries and supporting documentation must be received or post-marked by April 30, 2008. Please consider the size of your submission prior to sending it as an email attachment. NIGP cannot be responsible for last-minute entries that are too large to be received as an attachment.
     
  7. Nominees shall receive a confirmation of receipt of their award submittal. If you do not receive confirmation of your award submission by May 7th, 2008, contact chapters@nigp.org
     

I. SERVICE TO THE PROCUREMENT PROFESSION – 30 points possible

The service to the profession area of the Chapter awards program will document and reward efforts and accomplishments for advancing the profession and sustaining excellence in public procurement. Such efforts can be documented through initiating innovative concepts in the procurement process (i.e., e-procurement, cooperative bidding arrangements, best practices), monitoring & reporting pertinent legislation (i.e., chapter task force), participating in local chapter/industry trade shows, assist/collaborate with other NIGP Chapters, Host Chapter Purchasing Month activities, and encourage and support professional certification.

Points in this category are awarded to Chapters for sponsoring NIGP Seminars, Chapter offerings of professional development and networking opportunities, public display of NIGP national affiliation and participation in national Board and/or Committees and NIGP sponsored leadership training programs.

In the Chapter Operations Management section, Chapters earn points for their efforts in effectively managing and documenting Chapter governance, and membership records. Chapters are rewarded for maintaining defined and documented board committee responsibilities and an all-encompassing strategic plan. Chapters can also earn points for participating in the National and Chapter awards program and providing scholarship programs for the purpose of enhancing the levels of professionalism of those responsible for the effective, efficient and ethical expenditure of public funds.
