UPPCC Recertification Point Allowance

The Recertification Handbook outlines the following guidelines:

  1. Will time spent at a national, chapter, regional or state sponsored forum/conference be acceptable for re-certification points?

    Yes, the UPPCC appreciates the value in attendance at such events. See the Re-certification Handbook or Re-certification Application,. Category B sections1-4 of the Activity Point Schedule for a list of appropriate and acceptable events. Activities attended may be any of the following: seminars, workshops, conferences, forums, training sessions, NIGP National or Chapter meetings or conferences (regional, state, local) education programs.
     

  2. Will the UPPCC pre-approve re-certification activities?

    No, the UPPCC will not review documentation on specific activities until the re-certification application is submitted for evaluation by the candidate.

    The UPPCC does not pre-approve conferences and educational seminars. The UPPCC will automatically approve any coursework, seminars or conferences hosted by NIGP, NIGP Chapters and NASPO. Additionally, under a reciprocal arrangement, activities hosted by the National Association of Purchasing Management (NAPM), the National Contract Management Association (NCMA), and the Purchasing Management Association of Canada (PMAC) are automatically approved.
     

  3. What type of documentation should a sponsoring entity provide an attendee to use for recertification point allowance? (Question 11)

    Sponsors should provide:

  1. Syllabus or course outline of activity attended. The syllabus or outline must include detailed description of topic(s) or course title, specific dates and times of activities (1 point for every 8 educational hours accumulated); name of sponsoring organization; instructor/speaker; location (city, state/province).

    OR
     

  2. Proof of attendance may be documented using a certificate of training/attendance or transcript. Certificates should include name of attendee, sponsoring organization, activity title, dates and location (city and state).

    OR

    For chapter sponsored conferences or forums contact the UPPCC Certification Coordinator at
    certification@uppcc.org for a “sample” form which can be edited for your specific need.

    An educational hour does not include business meetings (i.e. board, committee, chapter) vendor presentations/exhibits, lunch, breaks, banquets or entertainment events. No more than 3 points will be awarded per activity.
